Biography

Pedro Rocha (born October 24, 1988 in Brasília, Brasil) is a classical guitarist.

He started playing solo guitar as a child. In school, he studied violin and participated in the school choir.

2007-2011 – He obtained a bachelor degree in music from the Universidade Nacional de Brasília where he studied guitar with Eustáquio Grilo, he was also a regular student of Eduardo Meirinhos from the Universidade Federal de Goiânia.

2012-2014 – He moved to France, where he studied guitar with Judicaël Perroy at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d’Aubervilliers.

2015-2018 – He studied music theory, analysis, and history at the École Normale de Musique, and was in Tania Chagnot’s guitar class, with whom he later obtained his Diplome d’études musicales at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental de L’Hay-les-Roses.

2018-2020 – At the Sorbonne Université, he earned a master’s degree in musicology under the supervision of composer Philippe Cathé.

Pedro Rocha participated in numerous master classes, with Leo Brouwer, Roland Dyens, Hubert Keppel, Margarita Escarpa, Henrique Pinto, Jorge Caballero, Eduardo Isaac and Marcin Dylla.

He has been living in France since 2012, where he teaches and performs in solo recitals and chamber music formations. Pedro Rocha plays on a guitar made by the luthier Sérgio Abreu.
